Through chat discussion and personal recommendations, DominateDominion has listened to your thoughts. As the Dominion community is steadily growing, we recognize that there are a number of up-and-coming players that we would love to see participate in our weekly tournaments. Unfortunately, we understand time constraints and other impeding factors can prevent you from forming a routine group of players for a team.

We would like to provide an opportunity for you to participate  and meet potential future teammates! Our goal for this project is, depending on applicants, a two team randomized roster of 5 people who are interested in competitive Dominion play. Please note: the matchmaking is randomized! While we hope for every match to be competitive, I’m sure we would all support the thought of  bringing the highest volume of participants to Dominion, regardless of map preference or skill level.

Orianna

• Global spell cooldown reduced to 0.15 seconds from 0.5

Orriana’s recent changes in the Jayce patch have provided an outstanding buff to her overall play style. Lowering the Global Cool down on her skills will allow for quicker and smoother decisions with the ball. They are also buffing her range, and increasing the damage on her passive. Overall, I would say that these changes alone will bring more Orianna to the Dominion scene.

Nunu:

• Visionary
  • Attacks required to activate reduced to 5 from 7
• Consume
  • Damage increased to 500/600/700/800/900 from 400/525/650/775/900
  • Damage dealt to Dragon and Baron increased to 100% from 50%
  • Cooldown reduced to 16/14/12/10/8 seconds from 18/16/14/12/10 seconds
• Absolute Zero
  • Minimum damage if interrupted increased to 12.5% from 0%
  • Maximum damage if interrupted increased to 87% from 70%

Nunu is already an extremely formidable opponent bottom lane, he essentially counters any bottom champion that doesn’t have an interrupt or dash escape; He is getting buffed big time in the sustain category. His skill consume is getting a base damage/heal increase early ranks as well as a significant cool down reduction. The overall damage buff to his ultimate is just icing on the cake.I predict that Nunu will be a popular bottom lane choice by direct result of these changes.

Leblanc:

• Sigil of Silence missile speed increased to 2000 from 1400.
• Distortion
  • Cooldown reduced to 18/16/14/12/10 seconds from 20/18/16/14/12
  • Casting Mimic: Distortion no longer disables LeBlanc’s ability to return to Distortion’s origin point and vice versa

Leblanc is a very powerful assassin in the right hands, she can make any squishes’ life a nightmare in Dominion. The changes to her Distortion will make her even more deceptive then she was before, allowing her to teleport back to both points of origin. The changes to her Sigil of Silence missile speed will make the damage register faster on the target.

Xerath

• Locus of Power
  • Magic Penetration bonus increased to 16/22/28/34/40% from 10/15/20/25/30%.
• Mage Chains
  • Missile speed increased to 2100 from 1700
  • Ability Power ratio increased to 0.8 from 0.7

Overall buff to his Damage output, going to be a bigger, better Xerath.

Global Ult Nerf

Champions it effects: Karthus, Shen, Soraka

The cooldown increase on the ultimates of these champions is going to nerf their overall performance on the scar. The global ultimates make them a threat, no matter their positioning on the map.

Jayce in Dominion

The new champion, Jayce, is an excellent addition to the Dominion roster. His ultimate makes him extremely versatile, adapting to any situation that is thrown at him. I find that his greatest strength is the range amplification of his Shock Blast after passing through the Acceleration gate. It allows him to hold off a turret from a distance as well as pick off fleeing foes.

Tournament Writers

• Covers the weekly DominateDominion tournaments.
• Writes an overview of the tournament as if it were an ESPN article over a basketball game.
• Must know basic formatting in order to make the article look nice.

Tournament Staff (NA)

• Answer any questions people may have regarding the tournament.
• Updating the brackets during the tournament.

Top 5 Plays Of The Week Staff

• Help sorting through plays sent in for the “Top 5 Plays of The Week”.
• Help rank weekly plays 1-5.
• Help clipping plays out of a whole Dominion match.
• Must be able to screen capture video.
• Must have basic video editing skills.

Events Staff

• Finds Dominion events.
• Keeps the calendar updated with Dominion events.

We are pleased to introduce our site’s latest feature: the IRC web chat. We felt that there was a need for a better way to connect all DominateDominion summoners. And we think we’ve delivered. IRC is a well established protocol that has been around for ages. It’s not only robust but completely multi platform as well, so now all Dominate Dominion summoners, no matter what realm they are on can hang out together, no matter what OS you’re running. We would like to invite you all to join, interact and idle in this chat as best you can. We shook things up a little bit this time around. This is the first tournament that we ran both Aparkhurst and Jjaja together, which gave us two strong bot lane options and made it much harder to ban / counter us out of a good bot lane. It’s a problem we have had in the past that I think we’ve shored up.

Bans were standard until the last ban set, where PECS banned Malzahar. Rather than banning one of the standard bans, we went for a Pantheon ban instead. This left Urgot, Poppy and Wukong open, so while PECS got Urgot, who is generally considered one of the strongest Dominion picks, we got both Poppy and Wukong who are very strong on Dominion as well.

After we picked up Wukong, we build a team that synergized with him for a very strong team fight presence. Picking up Cassiopeia and Sona with Wukong gave us a brutal AOE lockdown in teamfights and strong mixed damage. With Poppy along to single out high priority targets for uninterruptible pain, I think it gave us the edge in 4 man engagements.

Q: This one is more of a personal question. Being one of the few support players around, how do you feel about the role? What is your perspective on how a support should be played, in both gameplay and item build.

I think supports have a definite place in dominion. Unlike the SR no gold no items support meta, on Dominion supports will get just as much gold as anyone else. Personally I feel the supports, given the opportunity to actually buy items, have a great kit for a kind of ranged bruiser role that can contribute a lot to the team. As far as item builds go its very depending on which support I’m playing, but I’d say CDR and survivability are strong build goals on any of them. A kindlegem based item, an aegis and a glacial shroud is a pretty solid starting point for anyone looking for a very basic support build that they can tune to their liking. Picking the right support for your team is also important as they each bring something different. My main three are Janna, Lulu and Sona.

Janna gives you a lot of AOE disruption, a strong passive, great mobility and incredible survivability… at the cost of damage. Janna is a good choice when your team has three strong top lane damage dealers, especially including a squishy/ranged but very high dps output champion as Janna excels at keeping your teammates alive. Janna is great to have against an enemy team heavy with gap closers.

Lulu has higher damage output and great single target CC, and works extremely well with a strong bruiser sporting good attack speed such as Jax. She is less suited to keeping a ranged squishy alive than Janna but she can still pull it off pretty well by giving them a large boost to effective health. She cant keep a Wukong/Pantheon/gapcloser from murdering your ranged ad like Janna can, but she gives the team higher damage output than Janna and as mentioned synergizes especially well with champions that like to jump into the middle of a fight and start beating on someone.

Sona works best in a very team fight rather than small engagement oriented comp. She is stacked with auras so the more people that are nearby the more effective she is being. She also combines very well with other AOE champions like Wukong, Cassiopeia and Rumble. I like to get at least a sheen if not a triforce in addition to my defensive items on Sona, which gives you respectable attack damage output that other supports don’t have at all. She is the support lease suited to singling out and keeping a single teammate alive and best suited to running with a strong offensive bruiser team that wants to barrel in to team fights at mid to close range.

Q: Not everyone knows yet, but Team Mollica/Monica’s Angels have split up as a team. How do you feel about the competitive scene losing one of its top competitors? Are you planning on grabbing anyone off that team?

It’s sad to see one of the strongest teams in the Dominion arena disband, but I can understand why they chose to. I’ll let them go into the details themselves but it’s not easy to field a competitive team. It’s a lot of work and a lot of time invested. That said I’m sure we’ll see some of them joining existing or new teams so I wouldn’t count all the members out. I’d bet we’ll be seeing quite a bit more from a lot of them.

As to how that effects our team I’ve had a standing invitation to Mollica to join since he was last a free agent months ago. He’s welcome to a spot on the team if he ever wants it, but I’m not going to be any more aggressive in recruiting that that.

Q: Many know your team as they type that practice together a lot. How do you feel that gives your team an advantage versus a team that may not practice as much?

Well, I would say practicing together as a team lets you get a much better feel for how your teammates react to different situations. It lets you play together much more fluidly. I would definitely recommend that any new teams looking to be competitive practice together. It’s not the end all solution to being good at dominion but it certainly helps.

Q: Final Question. Ranked Dominion. Yes/No?

Yes please.

Q:  Can you give a Roster Run-down of your team and their roles?

A:  Excellent question!  Well, first off, we’ve had plenty of experience playing against the players of these teams in solo queue, since when we queue at the same time in high elo we’re almost guaranteed to run into each other.  Although there will obviously be differences in a tournament setting, we gain valuable experience nonetheless, especially since top players tend to use the same champions in solo queue that they do for tourneys.

Also,  I’d like to make a correction.  I don’t feel we’ve ever really defeated Point Defense (+5) in an actual tournament, since they were missing core members when we defeated them in the DD tourney.  This point was driven home when, in the Monday NESL tournament, we were defeated in a rather embarrassing fashion by them despite a sizable early game advantage.  We’ve never played Team Mollica in a tournament, either, although we seem to run into them every other game in solo queue.

Q: Of course, being new, you and your team had the advantage of being able to pick and choose specifically to counter other teams, while your team strategy remains completely unknown. How much do you think this factored into your winning of the tournament? Are there any specific examples?

A: Definitely a huge factor.  In our game against Point Defense, through strategic banning (mostly by picking on Sweets <3), we forced a first pick Poppy, giving us Pantheon and Wukong.  If you’ve ever played against us before, those are the absolute favorites of two of our team members, which led to both of them going legendary in the same game.  I don’t think we’ll be lucky enough to get both (or either) ever again.

Q: Many different teams have a different view of what is most important to winning a game. Point Defense is known very well for their bot lane ganks, so the often do not pick a support. Meanwhile, Blind Pick Bandits focus their team comp around a perfect teamfight. What would you say is your team philosophy, and how do you pick according to that?

A: Honestly, at the moment we’re too immature as a team to have much of a strategy as far as team comp goes.  Currently most of us basically just pick our favorite champs, with some of the all-rounders filling in the gaps as needed.  We’re working on that!

Q: Quite some people consider your team the underdog of the tournament. Would you agree with that statement? How well did you think you would do prior to the tournament?

A: Well seeing as how we were a group of relative unknowns, and our team was formed literally the day of that tournament by me running around spamming people on my buddy list, I think you can safely say we were underdogs going in. 

Winning the tourney was a huge confidence boost for us, really giving us the drive to improve and better ourselves.  We hope to defeat Point Defense legitimately in the future, and to give Dominion fans something exciting to watch!  Thanks for the interview.

So it has come as a bit of a surprise that League of Legends has made DominateDominion one of their featured streamers! As a lot of new faces are rolling around, I wanted to make a quick announcement about the site. As of now, the site can seem a bit bare, but that will soon change! The DD staff has been busy working on a completely new site with a much more user-friendly interface! DominateDominion #1 Tournament registration is now open! This will be the first of many weekly Dominion tournaments for Riot Points! The tournaments are open to anyone with a Dominion team as long as all of the members are level 30. These tournaments will be streamed and shoutcasted weekly, on the DominateDominion Twitch channel. The rules for the tournament can be found here and are subject to change. Since this is the first tournament, we will likely be changing to a different, easier registration format in the near future if people do not like the current method. Thanks and good luck!
